Trauma Counselling

Traumatic experiences can have a lasting impact on emotional well-being, relationships, and a person’s sense of safety and control. I offer trauma-informed counselling in a safe, supportive, and paced therapeutic environment, helping clients process difficult experiences without re-traumatisation.

My approach recognises that trauma affects individuals differently. Therapy is therefore individualised and collaborative, focusing on emotional regulation, stabilisation, and the gradual integration of experiences at a pace that feels manageable for each client.

Trauma counselling may support individuals who have experienced:

  • Acute or chronic trauma

  • Developmental or relational trauma

  • Loss, grief, and adverse life events

  • Stress-related symptoms and emotional overwhelm

The aim of therapy is to help clients restore a sense of safety, strengthen coping resources, and build resilience, supporting long-term psychological well-being and improved functioning in daily life.

Psychometric Assessment

I offer ethical, evidence-based psychometric assessments to support clinical insight, personal development, and informed decision-making. Assessments are conducted in line with HPCSA guidelines and are carefully selected to meet each client’s specific needs and referral questions.

Psychometric assessments may be used to support:

  • Career guidance and subject selection

  • Educational planning and learning support

  • Emotional and behavioural screening

  • Personality and strengths profiling

  • School-to-university transition planning

Each assessment includes a comprehensive feedback session, where results are explained clearly and practically, with written recommendations where appropriate. The focus is not only on test results, but on helping clients and families understand how findings can be applied meaningfully in everyday life, education, or career planning.

Assessments are available with in-person and selected online options depending on the assessment type.

DBT Skills Training for Adolescents & Families

Adolescence can be an emotionally intense and challenging stage for both teens and their families. I offer DBT-informed skills training adapted and based specifically for adolescents and their caregivers to support emotional regulation, communication, and healthier family relationships.

This approach is based on the adolescent adaptations of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy developed by Dr Marsha Linehan, Dr Alec Miller, and Dr Jill Rathus, and focuses on practical, real-world skills that can be used at home and in everyday situations.
